Robert W. Carter became Panda Ethanol's chairman upon the incorporation of the company in October of 2006. Mr. Carter has more than 45 years of business experience with 30 years in the energy sector both in the United States and abroad. Mr. Carter founded Panda Energy in 1982 as chairman and CEO. Panda Energy became Panda Energy International Inc. in January 1995. Under Mr. Carter's leadership, Panda has raised more than $5 billion dollars to develop and build more than 9,000 megawatts of power projects in the United States, the People's Republic of China and the State of Nepal.
In 2005, Newsweek Magazine named Panda Development, a subsidiary of Panda Energy, as one of the ten most eco-friendly companies in America. In 2001, Panda Energy International was awarded "Deal of the Year" by International Financing Review for the company's 2.2 billion dollar financing of the two largest gas-fired merchant power plants in the United States. Panda Energy International Inc. is one of the few remaining independent energy companies to prosper out of an original field of more than 100 companies.
Prior to entering the power sector, Mr. Carter founded Carter Oil and Gas Inc. in 1980 where he developed domestic and Columbian oil and gas prospects. Carter Oil and Gas co-ventured drilling prospects with Monsanto and Texaco, Sabine Royalty and King Ranch Oil and Gas. Before founding Carter Oil and Gas, Mr. Carter was vice president of oil and lease sales for Reserve Energy where he developed oil and chemical projects in the United States and Saudi Arabia. Mr. Carter spent his earlier career in the manufacturing sector where he represented Olin Matheson Chemical and Inland Mead Corporation.
Mr. Carter and his wife, Janice, have sponsored numerous civic and charitable organizations around the world. Mr. Carter's personal and business philosophy is based upon the principles of integrity and service to others. He has learned through experience how to achieve success through wise and productive use of ideas and capital. Mr. Carter attended the University of Georgia.

Darol Lindloff is the chief executive officer of Panda Ethanol. Prior to this, he was chief operating officer, having held the same position with its founding company, Panda Energy International, since February 2005. In this role, Mr. Lindloff is responsible for technology selection, engineering, procurement, construction, start-up, training and day-to-day operations associated with the development and performance of the company's ethanol and renewable energy projects. He is also responsible for the management of commodities, fuels and transportation as they are required for the production and movement of revenue-producing products. In the role of overall asset management, he and his staff continually explore all avenues of operation, feed stocks, fuel supply, commodity sales and contractual options in order to maximize asset value to the corporation.
With more than 40 years of experience in the chemical process industry and in electric power generation, Mr. Lindloff has been directly involved in systems and plant design, construction, start-up, operations, project development, project financing and executive management. He joined Panda in 1989 and has held executive management positions where he has overseen business and project development, engineering, construction and asset management. From January 1997 to 2000, Mr. Lindloff served as president of Panda Energy International. His service has been punctuated by the construction and operation of two domestic PURPA-qualified independent power plants; the development, construction and operation of two international power generating facilities; two 1,000 MW Texas-based merchant power plants; and the construction completion of two of the largest gas-fired merchant power facilities in the nation each rated at 2,250 MW.
Prior to joining Panda, Mr. Lindloff spent four years managing development of power and steam cogeneration projects for Hawker Siddley Power Engineering, and Central and Southwest Corporation. He spent seven years in the air pollution control industry, where as a regional manager, he was involved in the design, sale and operation of electrostatic precipitators, fabric filter collectors and SO2 scrubbers as they applied to the coal-fired electric utility industry. Earlier in his career, he spent eleven years with Airco Industrial Gases as an applications engineer and later, as regional sales manager. In these roles, he was responsible for the development of applications, systems design and sale of air separated gases, i.e. oxygen, nitrogen and argon, in addition to the production and uses of CO2. This association provided an experience base rooted in the chemical and petrochemical industry; combustion technologies for iron, steel and nonferrous metals production; welding and manufacturing of heavy equipment, structures and vehicles; the freezing and preserving of food products; and the support of fuel and pressurizing systems for the early NASA space program.
Mr. Lindloff is a graduate of Southwestern University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Organic Chemistry.
Mr. Zamlen has more than 30 years of industrial and power plant experience including over 21 years in the construction, operation, maintenance and asset management of coal and gas-fired generating plants, 5 years of which were in China. Prior to joining Panda Energy in July, 1996, Mr. Zamlen worked for Constellation Energy, Inc. as the ACE Facility Manager, bringing this 108MW fluidized bed coal-fired California Commercial Demonstration Project from groundbreaking through construction, final staffing, commissioning and commercial operation over a 5-year period complete with P&L responsibilities for ACE Cogeneration Co. This employment was preceded by 6 years with United States Steel Corporation and 9 years with Kerr-McGee Chemical Corporation in various engineering, operating and maintenance management positions with continually expanding areas of responsibility collectively covering mining operations, heavy industrial production facilities, chemical operations and power generation via oil, gas, coal and petroleum coke fuel sources. Upon joining Panda, Mr. Zamlen was expatriated to Hebei Province, China as the General Manager of Panda's joint venture companies to lead the in-country effort to build a 100MW pulverized coal cogen facility. Over a 5-year period Mr. Zamlen took the project from EPC contract NTP through construction, staffing of the joint venture company, commissioning and commercial operation, and then supported the ultimate sale of the asset in 2001. Upon repatriation, Mr. Zamlen represented Panda Energy on the Management Committee of Texas Independent Energy, a 50/50 partnership with PSEG Global that owned and operated two 1,000MW combined-cycle merchant plants in Texas. Activities included power sales origination, fuel, energy and risk management, day-ahead trading and scheduling, P&L, sponsor/lender relations, staffing, budgets and plant O&M oversight and technical guidance. Following the sale of this asset in 2004, Mr. Zamlen worked as Senior Director Mergers & Acquisitions and actively pursued the acquisition of a number of power generation assets including several potential partnerships and various biomass-fueled renewable energy project opportunities in California. Having spent some time in Nepal during his employment in China, Mr. Zamlen was instrumental in completing the sale by Panda of its 75% interest in the 36MW Bhote Koshi hydroelectric project to the local Nepalese partner in March, 2006. Mr. Zamlen directed the in-house efforts to bring Panda Hereford Ethanol, L.P. to a successful financial closing in July, 2006 and is currently working on a similar organized approach to prepare Panda Ethanol's Yuma & Haskell projects for financial closing. Mr. Zamlen holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering with Distinction from the University of Minnesota Institute of Technology graduating in June, 1975 in the field of power systems.
As the vice president of operations at Panda Ethanol, Don Thorpe is responsible for overseeing the company's plant operations and maintenance. Prior to his current position, and beginning in 1994, he served as general manager of Panda Energy's 180 MW Rosemary facility located in Roanoke Rapids, N.C. From 1992 to 1994, he was employed by Sithe Energies as general manager of a 79 MW combined-cycle cogeneration facility in Messina, NY. From 1971 to 1992, Mr. Thorpe held a variety of management positions for Potomac Electric Power including manager of generating maintenance where he was responsible for the utility's central maintenance service center. Mr. Thorpe received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Lowell Technological Institute. He joined Panda Energy in 1994.
Mr. Bright is the director of grain management at Panda Ethanol. In this role, he is responsible for the procurement, logistics and profitable management of grain supply, storage and freight for ethanol projects. He is also responsible for coordinating other commodities such as denaturant and natural gas as they relate to ethanol and distillers' grains products. Mr. Bright works closely with grain industry suppliers, grain analysts, the commodity futures industry and railroad transportation to ensure that activities associated with grain and grain transportation minimize exposure while maximizing asset margins.
Mr. Bright has more than 20 years of experience in the grain industry. Prior to joining Panda Ethanol in February 2008, Mr. Bright spent four years as senior merchandiser at W.B. Johnston Grain Company where he was responsible for all trading and risk management of feed grains in addition to trading and managing the BNSF shuttle freight position. Mr. Bright also spent 17 years at Bartlett and Company where he traded truck grain to terminal elevators, flour mills, poultry feed mills and cattle feed yards in Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas. As product line manager, he also managed the company feed grains position for all company assets and managed a trading team that covered all of the western corn belt including truck, rail and barge trading. In this position, he also traded the yellow corn rail and barge positions which included export destinations through the center gulf, the Texas gulf and directly into Mexico.
Mr. Bright is a graduate of Oklahoma State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics
Kurt M. Landis joined Panda as the director of feed and nutrition, where he is responsible for marketing the company's distillers' grains products, in May 2006. Mr. Landis works closely with livestock feeding operations, feed manufacturers, consulting nutritionists and university faculty to meet the nutrition needs of a diverse customer base.
From 1991 through 2006, Mr. Landis held various positions with Cargill Animal Nutrition. These responsibilities included providing nutritional consulting to feedlots and non-confined cattle feeding operations, managing relationships with feedlots and their consultants, and overseeing sales and nutrition teams. During this time, Mr. Landis gained experience with other areas of the livestock business including dairies, stocker cattle and retail feed suppliers. From 1989 to 1991, Mr. Landis was with Farr Better Feeds providing nutrition work and supplements to the feedlot industry.
Prior to his corporate experience, Mr. Landis was involved in conducting research in several areas of ruminant nutrition. As a research associate at the University of Arkansas, he was involved primarily in research on forage-based diets. At West Texas A&M University, his primary focus was on researching feedlot nutrition. Mr. Landis is the author or co-author of 27 refereed scientific articles. He holds a Master of Science degree from West Texas A&M University.
Bill Pentak is the Director of Corporate Communications and Investor Relations at Panda Ethanol. He is responsible for managing the company's external communications and public affairs functions. He is Panda's media spokesperson, lobbyist for both state and national affairs, and is the primary point of contact with investors and analysts. Prior to joining Panda Energy, Mr. Pentak served in the corporate communications and investor relations department of Reliant Energy. He has more than 20 years of public affairs experience, is a former columnist, professional speaker and an internationally published author.
Mr. Pentak earned a B.A. in Communications Studies from Baylor University and an M.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin.
